The lunchtime draw on Sky pitched the Seasiders against premiership opposition in the form of Tottenham Hotspur the tie is due to take place in the week beginning October 29..

Spurs boss Martin Jol lived to fight another day after watching his side ease past Middlesbrough in the 3rd round of the Carling Cup thanks to late goals from Gareth Bale and Tom Huddlestone.

Jol has been under intense pressure all season and it was thought that defeat against Gareth Southgate's side could mean the end of his spell in the White Hart Lane hotseat, but the Dutchman saw his side earn him a stay of execution.

Blackpool having overcome Southend United at Bloomfield Road in the last 2 minutes of extra-time with a Michael Jackson effort will make their first return to Whilte Hart lane since both sides resided in the old Division Two when the Seasiders drew 2-2 on the 11th February 1978.
