Parkes hints at future BFC role with Thommo

Following the Seasiders Boxing day draw at Hillsborough speculation that the temporary management duo of Tony Parkes and Steve Thompson may be tempted to stay on at Bloomfield Road rather than follow Grayson to Leeds were revealed in post match interviews.

Parkes on today's result commented: "We're happy with a point but I thought they were two points dropped, to be honest," he said.

"On the whole I thought we were the best team and better passing in the final third might have got us another goal."

On the duo's future role Parkes revealed:

"Myself and Steve (Thompson) want to carry on with the results that Simon got with the players. Hopefully if that happens, there may be a chance that we get the job full-time.

"They're quite prepared to give us a chance. I would be the manager with Steve as my assistant."

Parkes arrived at Bloomfield Road in December 2005 after a long and successful involvement with Blackburn's coaching staff which culminated in winning the Premier League title in 1995.

Thompson started with the club's Centre of Excellence before becoming Head of Youth in 2005.

The 43-year-old took over the role as first-team coach 12 months later.

In March 2008 both Parkes and Thompson signed new deals which would keep them at Bloomfield Road until 2010 and paid tribute at the time to the impact Simon Grayson has made in his first spell in management.

"Working with Simon Grayson has been excellent and we all just hope we can take Blackpool further," he said.
