Adam concentrating his efforts on Blackpool

The former Rangers schemer sealed a permanent move to Bloomfield Road in the summer having previously impressed on loan.

Adam was the subject of a bid from Middlesbrough in January and they remain interested.

But the 24-year-old insists he is concentrating his efforts on Blackpool.

"I can't stop the speculation linking me with other clubs but al l I'm concentrating on is getting Blackpool as high up this league as possible," he told the Daily Record.

"It was flattering to be mentioned with Middlesbrough and Gordon because I scored against his Celtic team at Rangers. Clearly, he wants players he knows and can trust but I tried not to let it affect me.

"The Premiership is a fantastic league with some of the best players in the world. Hopefully that will be in the future but I'm not naive enough to take things for granted.

"But I'd like to think my form now proves I could play at that level."

Adam admits he is currently playing at the top of his games.

"Without doubt, this is the best I've ever played. I had good spells at Rangers and St Mirren on loan but this is the best," he said.

"It's because I'm playing every week. I was confident if I got games, I'd get to the level I wanted to be at. I've played 33 games already this season, which is a lot at this stage. I've got to a level of consistency that was lacking in my game at Rangers.

"Everyone in Scotland had an opinion on my fitness, saying I was overweight and couldn't last in games. But I think at times my face didn't fit.

"What's important is I'm playing at a high level now for Blackpool and doing it every week. But I know if I let it drop, I'll be out of the team. I was surprised when the gaffer gave me the captaincy. I get the armband when Jason Euell doesn't play and I love it, it's brilliant.

"It has given me extra responsibility and that's what's driving me on to be successful down here. It's great to be able to lead players and really show what I can do in this environment."
