A view from Barnsley ahead of Saturday's fixture

Last updated : 10 September 2008 By Rob Miles
Well if you look at the league table it seems Barnsley have had a poor start to 2008-2009 but performances suggest otherwise. We took the lead and dominated against QPR but conceded two in two minutes to lose. We dominated against Coventry and lost 2-1 and played particularly well at Birmingham but lost 2-0.

Ironically our worst performance was against Derby and we won 2-0! That's football though I suppose.

Also we are missing some key players. Goalkeeper Heinz Muller is just coming back from a cruciate knee ligament injury, Jamal Campbell dislocated his elbow about two days before the start of the season and Hugo Colace has only just got his international clearance through from Argentina despite signing in June. This has really infuriated to the club and we could be reporting his old club Newell's Old Boys. Colace is now in line to make his debut at Blackpool.

Our one major plus point has been our £1.2m summer signing Iain Hume who has scored twice and been sent off in the first three games. He scored a cracker to break the deadlock against Derby and if he gets back from playing for Canada tonight on time he will be a major threat on Saturday.

Teams News:

Colace and Campbell-Ryce figured for the Reserves last night so should figure and hopefully Hume will be back.

Likely Line-Up:

Luke Steele
Rob Kozluk
Darren Moore (oh dear)
Dennis Souza
Stephen Foster
Martin Devaney
Brian Howard
Diego Leon/ Hugo Colace
Mounir El Haimour
Iain Hume
Jon Macken/Kayode Odejayi.
