A Night To Remember - 13th April 1970

Last updated : 04 March 2010 By The Seasider
Regular readers of this season's match programme, UP THE POOL !, will
already be aware that this season is the 40th anniversary of the Pool's last
promotion to the top flight of English football, which was achieved on a
memorable night at Deepdale on the 13th April 1970 when a Fred Pickering
hat-trick won the game for the Pool to not only gain promotion for the Pool
but also consign PNE to relegation to the 3rd Division.

What a night that was for the thousands of Pool fans present at that
memorable game.

A Celebration Dinner is taking place here at BFC on Friday 16th April 2010
to honour the players in that glorious season.

Thirty invitations have been sent out to the players who played there part
that season and also the 1st Division season of 1970/71. They will be our
honoured guests at a night where great entertainment and nostalgia is in
prospect.

A 4 course meal will be served, a 30 minute DVD showing Pool action from
around the late 60s / early 70s will be shown, some fabulous auction and
raffle prizes will be on offer.

The event will be compered by Radio Lancashire's Ian Chisnall and Ian
Holloway will be there.

All the profit's from the night will be passed over to The Jimmy Armfield
Statue Appeal so it's all for a great cause.

Tickets, priced @ £ 30 each, are available either from the BFC Ticket
Office or from myself, John D Cross, Tel 01253 - 353237 or 07984 - 940879 or
