Tuesday 26th January 1982
Blackpool’s first game on a plastic artificial pitch came after they had been drawn against Second Division Queens Park Rangers in the fourth round of the FA Cup. QPR had been the first club to lay a “plastic pitch” and the replay at Lotfus Road followed a goalless first game at Bloomfield Road in front of 10,227. QPR defeated the Seasiders 5-1 in front of 11,712 spectators with Blackpool’s only reply a consolation goal from Wayne Entwistle.
Saturday 26th January 2002
Stoke City reviewed their pricing policy following an official complaint by Blackpool fans who felt that the Potteries club had deliberately surcharged visiting supporters for the game played on New Year’s Day. Blackpool were lucky to escape with only a 2-0 scoreline but fans discovered that match tickets for visiting fans would not be available for advance purchase and that they would have to pay £17 on the gate. A Stoke City spokesman responded: "Over the last few days we have received further correspondence from the league as they would prefer to see equal prices behind the goals and as a result of which our pricing policy is been reviewed for the 2002/2003 season"
