Seasiders look at loan signings

And despite Holloway being delighted with the players he already has at his disposal, he wants to make sure he is covered in every area as the club head into the final 14 games of the campaign.

He told the Blackpool Gazette: "I have some plans as regards dipping into the loan market - but whether I can do it or not.

"I have to think about the run-in, injuries and possible suspensions. I'm all right in certain areas but I don't think I'm OK in others. The chairman is back from holiday and I will talk to him. Hopefully, if I select anyone else to bring in I'll have a little more time to go about it."

Holloway has also agreed a deal with Aston Villa to keep Barry Bannan at Bloomfield Road until the end of the season. The midfielder is currently back with the Midlands club receiving treatment on a broken toe but should be fit in two to three weeks.

The Seasiders have been hovering around the top six for much of the campaign, but three successive defeats had seemingly put paid to their promotion dream. But Holloway's men ended that unwanted sequence with a 2-0 success over Middlesbrough in midweek and he is urging his players to continue in the same vein.

"After three defeats in a row everybody was writing us off," said Holloway.

"But the lads were terrific and showed some real character, and we are going to have to continue to do that from now until the end of the season.

"I am confident we can do that, though, because we have some real quality in our squad."

Defender Rob Edwards is suspended after being sent off for the second time this year in Tuesday's 2-0 home win over Middlesbrough. Danny Coid (hamstring), Daniel Nardiello (groin), Neal Eardley (knee) and Billy Clarke (knee) all remain sidelined through injury.

The Seasiders are in buoyant mood after ending a run of three successive defeats with victory over Boro in midweek.

Holloway has now challenged his men to continue their push for a coveted play-off spot with victory against the lowly Royals.

He said: "We need to keep going if we're going to have a good season and that's what I've been saying all along."
